Spirit of Volunteerism
UPDATE: a decision has been made to postpone our annual Spirit of Volunteerism Awards celebration, originally scheduled for April 30, 2020. Although we are currently exploring alternative options for later this year, we will continue to encourage our volunteering communities to provide virtual celebrations and ongoing recognition over the next few months.
Since 1976, OneOC’s Spirit of Volunteerism Awards Luncheon provides an annual forum and non-competitive opportunity to recognize individual, group and corporate team volunteers for their dedicated service to Orange County.
About the Spirit of Volunteerism Awards
What started as a small nonprofit awards program has turned into a community-wide celebration with participation across the public, private & nonprofit sectors. The Spirit of Volunteerism Awards is proud to be the oldest awards program in Orange County recognizing and celebrating the major involvement of community volunteers, groups and corporations.
The Giving is Living Award
The Spirit of Volunteerism Awards has been the venue to announce the Giving is Living Award, celebrating the work of influential organizations, families and business that participate in outstanding community volunteerism.
Why be a part of the Spirit of Volunteerism Awards?
- For Nonprofits:
All nonprofits want and need to be good stewards of their volunteers, yet many do not have the resources to thank their volunteers the way that they would like. The Spirit of Volunteerism Awards Luncheon provides a wonderful opportunity for them to do so in a grand and public fashion.
- For Companies:
So many of our local businesses value giving back to the community and encourage their employees to volunteer. The Spirit of Volunteerism Awards Luncheon provides businesses an opportunity to publicly recognize the service of their employees in a venue where they can be celebrated not only by their colleagues, but by the nonprofits they work with.
- For Volunteer Honorees:
But most importantly, nominating a volunteer provides him or her with a great big “thank you!” we want to last throughout the year. Here’s what each honoree receives:
- Name and picture published in the Spirit of Volunteerism Program (distributed to over 1000 people).
- At the Luncheon, each honoree’s picture is shown and name read aloud in the Honoree roll-call.
- An individual recognition web-page where notes of congratulations and thanks can be posted to each honoree.
- Honorees attending the Luncheon receive a certificate, commemorative pin and ribbon, and are entered into a chance to win a raffle prize.
