OneOC Honors 16th Anniversary of 9/11 by Uniting Hundreds of Volunteers  for Service Projects Throughout Orange County

SANTA ANA, California – More than sixteen years have passed since the attacks of September 11, 2001 and during these politically charged times, unity among our nation and communities is more important than ever. Since 2011, OneOC, a Santa Ana-based nonprofit, has been at the forefront of the county-wide collaborative to bring community members together to honor the lives impacted by the 9/11 events with volunteer projects focused on “remembrance through service.”

Now in its 15th year hosted by OneOC, this commemoration is one of the organization’s four “Days of Service.” Throughout the month of September, OneOC will sponsor over 25 signature projects throughout Orange County that engage volunteers of all ages, as well as support our troops, veterans, and disaster preparedness, benefiting all of our American heroes. Over 10,000 Orange County volunteers have participated in this national initiative in collaboration with OneOC. Companies of all sizes, community groups, and participants of all ages are invited to explore opportunities to get involved.

“The horrors of September 11, 2001 united Americans in a solemn commitment to honor and never forget those who died and made sacrifices for our country,” said OneOC President and CEO Daniel J. McQuaid. “By mobilizing local companies, organizations and individual volunteers to work shoulder-to-shoulder to help others, we stay forever united and proud of what we can accomplish together.”

“Just as our nation came together in the aftermath of 9/11, OneOC brings together our community to continue the unity and support displayed on 9/11,” said Sam Attisha, senior vice president and California region manager of Cox Communications. “Cox and its employees are proud to be part of this important national effort that makes a local impact.”
