2024 Spirit of Volunteerism Honoree – Annie Pedron

Published: May 1, 2024

Honoree’s Name: Annie Pedron

Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

Annie Pedron participated in one of the larger Animal Care group orientations we hosted in December of 2022. We actually used her class as the “Guinea pig” for future sessions. It was a challenging time to come into Animal Care, because the season was just starting to pick-up. As Annie was learning, she offered to pick-up additional shifts that were in need. To this day, I think she is on all of our speed dial. Her generosity doesn’t stop there! Whenever we have a special event, Annie is one of the first to sign-up. She helps coordinate speaker transfers, so that we are able to reach everyone in attendance at our Pinniped and Pints events. She attends every Pinnipeds and Pints event, unless it interferes with her shift. She also assists in many different roles at special events we offer at PMMC. Beyond that, she has an infectious spirit. She is dedicated, compassionate, and empathetic. She even brings in homemade baked goods for her teammates! Anyone who meets Annie, leaves with a friend. When she is not helping out at PMMC, she is spending time with her family, training to compete in Half Ironman triathlons, or getting outdoors.

  1. Annie and I started the same day at PMMC back in Dec. 2022. She and I were the only newbies on the shift and became quick friends. Annie has a heart of gold. She’s gentle, kind, intelligent, and VERY FUNNY! I always look forward to spending my Tuesday afternoons with her and my shift mates. From the beginning, I’ve felt that Annie should be honored as a stand-out volunteer for her commitment to PMMC. This is a long overdue award for her! Thank you Annie for always being there for me as a shoulder to cry on, friend to laugh with, and shift mate to clean up seal poop with! I LOVE YA ANNIE!

The world is a better place because Annie is in it, and I’m lucky and privileged to have her be a part of mine.
