Scott Evans has been a freelance grant writer since 2005 and is the former Director of Development for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. Scott has written proposals for many types of non-profits including education, research, human services, youth development, workforce development, and the arts. He also serves as the Administrator for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Orange County chapter and is a Past-President of the organization. His measurement of the success of the course is dependent on the students’ writing improvement and their better understanding of the audience, that is reading their proposals and making decisions. Meet Your Trainer: Tim Strauch
Tim Strauch is the President & CEO of OneOC in Orange County, California, where he has leveraged his strategic leadership to support over 950 organizations. With more than 30 years in nonprofit leadership, Tim has guided individuals and organizations to achieve their highest potential and amplify community impact. He serves on the California Volunteers Commission and collaborates with national committees through Points of Light. A key figure in the Service Enterprise program, Tim has helped over 150 organizations nationwide enhance their volunteer engagement. Previously, he held various leadership roles at the YMCA, including Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer. Tim’s expertise spans leadership development, operations, board and volunteer advancement, fundraising, and strategic planning. He holds a master’s degree in athletic administration from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California.

Foundations of Volunteer Management
The Foundations of Volunteer Management course introduces the core functions of volunteer management including planning/assessing, recruitment, support, retention, recognition, and evaluation.
Participants will gain a better understanding of all core functions with a deeper dive into the 3 Rs of volunteer management – recruitment, retention, and recognition. During this course, we will use resources to assess volunteer programs throughout, in addition to sharing experience and tips to strengthen your understanding of volunteer management.
MEET YOUR TRAINER:
Elisa Cirrito joined the Volunteer Services team in the summer of 2022. She has experience in leadership program coordination and event planning from her previous role serving Fullerton College. She interned for the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Public Safety and a nonprofit organization, Achieving the Dream, which fortified her passion for strengthening her local communities. She holds an M.A. in Public Administration with a concentration in local government management from California State University, Fullerton.
