Sandy Cowles-Jamboree Housing

We’re excited to shine a light on Sandy, one of our most dedicated and compassionate volunteers! Week after week, she shows up with a smile, ready to lend a helping hand at The Arbor, our affordable housing community in Irvine. Her commitment to serving others is truly inspiring, and thanks to her efforts, residents receive not just food, but also a sense of care, connection, and support.

What makes Sandy truly stand out is the way she connects with people. She doesn’t just distribute food and move on—she takes the time to engage with every resident, learning their names, listening to their stories, and making sure they feel seen and valued. Whether it’s a warm greeting, a friendly conversation, or a simple check-in, she brings a personal touch that transforms food distribution into something more meaningful. Her presence creates a welcoming atmosphere that fosters community and reminds everyone at The Arbor that they are not alone.

Sandy’s dedication goes far beyond the ordinary. She isn’t just there to help—she’s there to make a difference. During a recent food distribution event, when a resident was injured, she immediately jumped into action, providing care and ensuring they got the help they needed. She didn’t hesitate, didn’t wait for someone else to step in—she took charge with kindness and urgency. That moment speaks volumes about who she is: compassionate, quick-thinking, and deeply committed to the well-being of others.

But Sandy’s impact doesn’t stop there. She brings an energy that lifts everyone around her, inspiring other volunteers and reminding us all why we do this work. She’s the kind of person who makes you feel at home with just a smile, the kind of volunteer who doesn’t just give her time but gives her heart. Her presence at The Arbor has strengthened the sense of community, creating bonds that go beyond food assistance and into something much more profound—a feeling of belonging, of care, of shared humanity.

Volunteers like Sandy are the heart and soul of our mission. Her kindness, positivity, and unwavering dedication set an example for us all. She reminds us that service isn’t just about meeting needs—it’s about lifting spirits, building connections, and showing up for one another in meaningful ways.

Sandy, we are beyond grateful for you. Your generosity, warmth, and willingness to go the extra mile have left a lasting impact on The Arbor and all of us who have the privilege of working alongside you. Thank you for all that you do—you are truly making a difference!
