Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

Nithin started the non-profit, the “Zero Waste Initiative” with the aim to rescue food waste and reduce food insecurity. He has rescued over 100,000$ in food value last year donating to various organizations and shelters.
Once, while eating at a Bruegger’s bagel shop, Nithin observed surplus unsold bagels were discarded after closure. He reached out to numerous stores as well as shelters eventually convincing them while consistently following safe pandemic protocols.

Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

Amita worked with Nithin during the pandemic to expand his non-profit, the “Zero Waste Initiative” recruiting a number of high school volunteers to assist in food pickup and delivery.
Amita helped Nithin overcome a lot of safety questions eventually designing this initiative so that food items collected would be donated without health risks. She maintained daily tracking of pickup/drop-offs while helping to grow the organization.
