Becoming an Emotionally Intelligent Manager

The most successful companies and individuals are the ones that build their culture and communication following the key principles of Emotional Intelligence (EI). Many experts contend that EI is more important than the Intelligent Quotient (IQ) and accounts for 80% of professional success. According to Danield Goleman the frontrunner of EI, Emotional Intelligence can be categorized into four quadrants: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. In this two-part training series, you will learn the fundamentals of each of these quadrants and enhance your emotional intelligence in order to more effectively lead your employees and teams.

Session 1: Self-Awareness & Self-Management Self-awareness and Self-management are vital for understanding oneself and utilizing that knowledge to cultivate personal and professional relationships. Enhancing self-awareness not only improves self-control but it increases confidence, accurate self-assessment, and develops mood management. Enhancing self-awareness will in turn improve self-control during stressful situations and periods of time in individuals of time. Self-management is a key component in cultivating personal and professional relationships. The foundational elements of this pillar are managing personal emotions, reactions, time-management, and attitude. Through exploring trigger points, motivations, and personal management style, individuals will understand how to effectively control their emotions, manage stress, and enhance well-being.

    Session 2: Social Awareness and Relationship Management Social Awareness and Relationship Management are two quadrants that have a significant overlap of abilities expressed. Social awareness is the innate ability to accurately pick up on emotions of other people and sympathize with said emotions. Relationship Management takes the concept of social awareness and implements it to strengthen personal and professional relationships. Relationship management includes the identification, analysis, and management of relationships with people, inside and outside of the workplace, as well as helps develop individuals through feedback and coaching.
