|Honoree’s Name: Pat Casey
Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:
Pat Casey has volunteered for The Museum of Teaching and Learning since 2007 in a variety of roles, starting with service on the early advisory committee. MOTAL was transitioning from a project at Cal State Long Beach to become an independent 501(c)(3). Pat had good ideas and was a delightful colleague. Then Pat, already an experienced docent, helped lead the docent team that led students and teachers through the MOTAL exhibition called A Class Action: The Grassroots Struggle for School Desegregation in California, telling the amazing story of Mendez et al v Westminster et al. She has helped prepare docents on many occasions. Pat also served on the exhibition planning committee for Two Roads, One Journey: Education in China and the U.S. and worked on the curriculum materials and docent activities. She has been a loyal supporter and a talented, insightful, patient friend and colleague—a marvelous, outstanding VOLUNTEER!
