Why Are These Volunteers Extraordinary:

Serving the community is one of the pillars upon which The Lukes Network was founded. The team at The Lukes Network, LLC,  a full-service sustainability consulting, public relations, marketing and design firm, volunteered more than 300 hours to the Orange County community in the Economic & Workforce Development and in the Hunger & Homelessness categories in 2021 alone, as well as to a local non-profit community association and a local city’s Traffic Commission. For the category of Economic & Workforce Development, TLN continues to as co-chair of the Orange County Workforce Development Board and Chair of the Business Services Committee of the OCWDB, which oversees Orange County’s workforce development activities and establishes programs in response to the workforce needs of Orange County, including labor market information, employment and training services, and business assistance. In 2021, TLN worked with staff to organize the inaugural Business Solutions Open House & Networking event, which welcomed more than 50 business representatives from large and small companies alike. OCWDB received a Turning Red Tape to Red Carpet Award from the Orange County Business Journal in the Business Retention and Expansion Category for innovating the OC Workforce Solutions Mobile Unit, which delivers mobile employment and workforce development services to members of the public. For the category of Hunger & Homelessness, TLN continues to serve on the Executive Committee of the Board of Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, as well as its chair of the Organizational Growth & Sustainability Committee and co-chair of Leaders Build Challenge, which raised more than $130,000 in 2021 alone. In addition to providing leadership and guidance on the board, TLN works with staff to on Building Dreams Drive, which in 2022 is on track to raise $300,000. To help expand the reach of Habitat OC, TLN introduced its business partners to the non-profit’s mission by inviting them to volunteer for one day of construction at TLN’s own corporate-sponsored build at the Habitat OC site in Stanton. On its build, TLN honored its business partners for volunteering on the build with certificates of recognition from several offices of regional and statewide elected officials. TLN also worked with staff to create Tuesday Tours, at which TLN invited more of its business partners to become familiar with the organization’s current building site. The first Tuesday Tour in 2022 led to a national real estate company to engage its team of Orange County realtors to immediately sponsor three corporate build days in a matter of weeks.
