Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

Kammy is an incredible facilitator and has the unique gift of captivating an audience. Her intentionality to support our nonprofits through management training is such a gift to the nonprofit community!
Having previously developed all of her training courses for an in-person format, Kammy gladly adapted her courses to be able to facilitate online and ensure that our nonprofits were still able to receive training during the pandemic.
Honoree’s Name: Susmitha Valvekar

Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

Susmitha leads with brilliance and humility. As a talent management professional with a wide variety of skills, she believes
knowledge should be shared and is always willing to sacrifice her time and talent to help OneOC build a more robust training program.
When the pandemic hit, OneOC similar to many organizations had to pivot quickly. Specifically, we had to translate our 90% in-person training program fully virtual. Susmitha played an integral part in helping us migrate our program online.

Honoree’s Name: Colleen Richardson

Award Category: Work

Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

Colleen has been a intricate part of the OneOC team for 9 years assisting with many departments over the years such as; membership, volunteer services, training as well as administration department. I am been fortunate to have her on my team, database administration for over six years. If anyone has ever maintained a database they know it is not a easy feat.  It take hours scouring account records each week to keep the data accurate and researching the correct information on the web.  She has the dedication an a eye for detail to help keep our 7000+ account records accurate with information such as; current accurate name, demographic information, mission statements, correct segments, main account contacts.  I would truly been struggling without this super hero to help me out each week.  She is an asset and a true joy to have as part of our team.
Team Name: Emergency Volunteer Center – Disaster Cadre

Award Category: Rescue

Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

The Emergency Volunteer Center AKA “EVC” provides a specific location where volunteers in times of disaster as well as recovery, can be matched with URGENT needs efficiently and then effectively be deployed. The EVC is currently virtually staffed by 96 AMAZING Skilled Volunteers known as our “Disaster Cadre” and over 300 volunteers that have been trained to screen, interview and refer volunteers to agencies in need, in a professional and supportive manner.

Since OneOC was activated by the County of Orange at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic March 2020, the Emergency Volunteer Center (EVC) has served 86 nonprofits in need. Under these circumstances, the EVC provided a free platform for any organization that needed aid during these challenging times. Our nonprofits were able to post their most urgent needs, both physically and virtually to garner volunteer aid. We want to express how important this was for our nonprofits and their success to continue with their missions. Just in 2020 the EVC & our Disaster Cadre Volunteers, recruited more than 4000 volunteers in support of critical services to our most vulnerable populations and truly wanted to express our gratitude to these AMAZING volunteers who continue to help our communities in need!

Special thanks go out to our Extraordinary Superhero’s…

  • Fatima Vazquez for her amazing patience and the courage to continue to brave the unknown.
  • Matt Parsons for his incredible skills, after-hours work/ training sessions and his compassionate nature.
