Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

Virginia "Ginny" Gregurek

Ginny is extraordinary because she has a bottomless amount of drive, passion, and love for the environment and ensuring that we pass the message of conservation on to others of all ages. Ginny is one of our original volunteers and has made a huge impact on the educational and outreach programs we provide to the public (adults and school-aged children). Her enthusiasm, style and flair for storytelling make her a favorite among all of our students helping them to remember important information and facts that foster them to be advocates for the environment. In the almost 5 years we have been doing programs, Ginny is definitely the crowd favorite and children often request her by name and want to see her again after our programs. We have even heard students say they want to be like her when they grow up and what better compliment is that? Not only is Ginny an amazing teacher and environmental advocate, she is creative and free-thinking, providing a sounding board for program development and growth in our organization. Ginny has touched the lives of so many and this goes into other species as well where she works tirelessly to protect our most vulnerable species and habitats in the intertidal ecosystems.
