Honoree’s Name: Charley Speelman

Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

Charley Speelman has been an OC Parks Fire Watch Volunteer since 2012. He is one of our ham radio operators and frequently uses his radio communication skills to report on conditions during Red Flag Warning deployments and training exercises. Charley is a consistent fixture for Red Flag Warning deployments at Riley Wilderness Park with his radio setup in the main parking lot. Charley volunteers for multiple organizations and we appreciate him sharing his time with Orange County Fire Watch and his commitment to fire prevention for Orange County’s parks, roadsides, and open spaces.

 

 

 

Honoree’s Name: Jayne Shinoda

Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

Jayne Shinoda has been an Irvine Ranch Conservancy volunteer since 2018. In just 5 years she has volunteered over 330 hours for Fire Watch. She frequently volunteers for Red Flag Warnings at numerous locations and in the Operations Center. Jayne exemplifies the commitment of our Fire Watch Volunteers that consistently deploy year after year through numerous Red Flag Warnings to assist with protecting and preserving our parks and open spaces. Orange County Fire Watch is thankful and appreciative for Jayne’s dedication and numerous hours of volunteerism.
