2023 Spirit of Volunteerism Honoree

Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

Dr. Yen Duong has been a volunteer with SAP-VN nonprofit since 1994, a social assistance program for Vietnamese immigrants in Orange and San Diego counties and in Vietnam. Dr. Yen, her husband, Trung, and children participate in an international medical mission in Southeast Asia that provides medical care to the poor and disadvantaged in Vietnam. Locally, she supports Mary’s Kitchen in Orange, aimed at supporting the homeless through scholarships that engage youth involvement in related projects.

Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

Dr. Trung is currently a member of the board of directors for SAP-VN, a social assistance program for Vietnam that provides medical assistance locally and in Southeast Asia. He has been a volunteer with SAP-VN since the mid-1990’s. In 2002, he started the dental team for the organization’s international mobile medical missions in Vietnam where he and his wife Yen and daughters Britney and Nikki participate in annually. He also participates locally in related projects in Orange and San Diego counties including Mary’s Kitchen in Orange providing support in feeding the homeless.
