2023 Spirit of Volunteerism Honoree

Published: March 16, 2023

Honoree’s Name: Amanda Walsh

Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

As a member of the National Philanthropy Day of Orange County’s steering committee, Amanda is instrumental in organizing and promoting philanthropic efforts in the community. Her work as co-chair of the communications committee has been crucial in spreading awareness about the organization’s mission and fundraising events. Amanda is also a valued member of the American Heart Association of Southern California’s Go Red for Women Executive Leadership Team, where she works to promote heart health and awareness. Amanda’s dedication to giving back is further evident in her involvement with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Southern California’s OC’s Finest campaign. Her fundraising efforts have been recognized by the organization, which named her as one of the top three fundraisers in the campaign in 2022.

Amanda’s day job as the Community Relations Manager at the University of California, Irvine also allows her to give back in a significant way. She is heavily involved with their Anti-Cancer Challenge and has helped to implement ‘UCI Days’ out in the community, where she and her colleagues donate their time to various causes – most recently, this involved an afternoon at Second Harvest Food Bank. Amanda’s selflessness and passion for making a difference have made her a beloved member of the community and an inspiration to many.
