Published: April 2, 2021

Honoree’s Name: Lawrence Telles

Award Category: Live

Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

Lawrence takes fundraising or volunteering ideas and runs with them, always bringing concepts in their infancy and fleshing them out to be thoughtful and successful.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Children’s Bureau launched a peer-to-peer fundraising platform. Lawrence was among our first participants, committing to biking 116 miles to raise awareness and funds. His efforts raised more then $3,000!
Honoree’s Name: Melanie Scotto

Award Category: Live

Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

Melanie’s spirit of giving back is unparalleled, identifying ways to support her community as a rising star professionally in a way others aspire to but rarely put into action.
At her first meeting with one of our family resource center coordinators, Melanie asked what the greatest need was. As a result, she created an entire life-skills workshop series for Children’s Bureau’s teenaged Youth Action Council.
Honoree’s Name: Amalia Lucci

Award Category: Live

Why This Volunteer is Extraordinary:

She has jumped in the role of office assistant, child activity leader, case manager, resource gatherer and many more. No matter how close or far her role was to providing direct service to the clients, Amalia tied it back to her mission and knew every step made a difference towards expanding father friendly services.
Amalia took on creating an arts and crafts activity for a father/child “Lucha libre” themed activity that was a huge hit! Amalia made dozens of mask templates and helped the kids decorate them so they could be luchadores for the day!
