Betsy Senescu is a long-time communications visual storyteller and blogger/writer volunteer who has made many contributions. In 2021 & 2022, she volunteered her time and talents to capture photos and videos that were used to capture the work of the Red Cross and our supporters in action. Betsy’s work “behind the scenes” has enabled us to share the Red Cross story far and wide.

Ross Chun

Ross Chun serves as a Community Volunteer Leader for the American Red Cross. Although he started in the role relatively recently, he has already done a tremendous job of making connections in the community, particularly with our government partners and elected officials. Through his work he has provided opportunities to raise awareness about the scope of work of the American Red Cross and help to expand mission delivery here in Orange County. These relationships are vital to the work we do and our ability to serve the community.

I would like to nominate Libaan Mohamed, Restoring Family Links Casework Lead. Libaan puts passion to action by leading a team of volunteers in working with families that have been separated internationally. Libaan shows compassion by creating a safe space for the client while providing services and teaching his team to do the same. Libaan’s always quick to volunteer and lead the team when a family contacts the Red Cross for RFL services. Thanks to Libaan, Restoring Family Links Casework in Southern California Region is at 100% timeliness, even as one of the regions receiving the most cases!

Teri is a supportive and compassionate Red Cross volunteer. She has dedicated hours and hours of her time and talent in support of our critical mission, starting with her volunteer roles in DCS and more recently through her support of the Development team. Teri has been eager to learn about fundraising, and has done a great job supporting my work with Foundations and Grants. She is fast learner, dedicated Red Crosser, and overall great asset to the team.

Jody McRoberts

Jody McRoberts has been with the Red Cross of Orange County since June 2019. Jody has had a great impact on our Biomedical department as an outstanding weekly volunteer at Laguna Hills Donation Center. Jody is known for being extremely personable with donors giving them a very welcome feeling that results in blood donor satisfaction and repeat donors . Jody is extremely reliable, and always very gracious to all the donors even during the pandemics challenging environment . In addition, Jody has shown flexibility in her schedule by covering blood drives in need above her regular weekly post or moving from her post to uncovered bloodmobiles in greater need of check in support. The Red Cross of Orange County is very grateful for Jody’s dedication to our lifesaving mission.

Terry is one of our shining stars in biomedical services, volunteering a total of 147 hours/35 blood drives from January – March 2022. Terry is always willing to help when needed and supports some of our last minute cancellations.

Janet Harvey is one of the logistic leads for Orange County Chapter. She makes our response possible resulting in the delivery of our mission. She and her team have organized all warehouses, updated inventory trackers and systems as well as the multiple trailers and Comex boxes spread across Orange County.
